My name is Michelle Sanders, and I currently teach reading courses, most developmental, and study skills courses at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL. My classes are filled with people from all walks of life and from many nations around the world. I hope to empower them by improving their reading skills, as well as helping them to adjust to college life, as many are first time college students. I love technology, so I strive to incorporate it into my teaching and classes; although, this ambition can be hindered at times by a lack of resources.
In hopes of also teaching some composition courses at my college, I am pursuing a second Master’s degree in English at Northwestern State University of Louisiana (online of course as I live in Florida). I have already earned undergraduate degrees in English, as well as Education, from Southeastern University, as well as a Master’s degree from UNLV in Literacy Education.
Outside the classroom, I can be found reading novels (surprise, surprise), playing games, running, and spending time with family and friends. A perfect day to me is to lie in a chair at the beach, with a book and drink in hand, and my husband on my other side, while watching our six year old twins build sand castles. Of course, no beach day is complete without frequent exploration in the ocean too.
